Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)

The Douglas County MRC is a group of volunteers who assist our community during a public health emergency, such as an influenza epidemic, communicable disease outbreak or an act of terrorism. Medical Reserve Corps volunteers also work together to improve the overall health and well being for our community by supporting health education initiatives in Douglas County. json

Some of the jobs MRC volunteers perform include:
• Staffing a mass dispensing site
• Providing vaccinations
• Educating, counseling and working with the public
• Assisting with infectious disease outbreak investigations

Douglas County MRC volunteers can be active or inactive health professionals, retired health professionals and others with relevant health-related skills.

The Douglas County Medical Reserve Corps is looking for:
Nurses
Physicians
Pharmacists
Veterinarians
Mental Health Professionals
Interpreters
Medical Technicians
Health Educators
Epidemiologists
Patient Records Specialists
Non-medical volunteers for basic support
Other health care workers

Quarterly meeting
. Thursday, March 25 from 6:30-7:30 p.m., Community Health Facility, 200 Maine St., Lawrence (second floor). The guest speaker will be Sgt. Ed Swanson of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office who will provide severe weather tips.

Weather 101. Thursday, March 11 at 7 p.m., South Junior High School, 2734 Louisiana St., Lawrence. Free to attend.

Severe Weather Symposium.
