Public Health Protection

Public Health Protection often happens behind the scenes. Every day, Environmental Health staff help to protect food and water supplies, the Disease Investigation team may be helping to contain disease outbreaks and Child Care Licensing surveyors ensure that day care facilities are safe and healthy.

The Health Department also works in close partnership with the city and county, Lawrence Memorial Hospital, local health care providers, schools, civic and faith-based organizations, businesses, law enforcement, firefighters and homeland security.
