[ARCHIVED] COVID-19 testing, screening still available after closing of east Lawrence testing site

IMG_6181

After operating a COVID-19 screening and testing site in east Lawrence in recent weeks, Lawrence-Douglas County will close the site at the end of Friday. Clinic staff will still be able to administer tests in the future at a drive-up site near the Community Health Facility, 200 Maine.

The drive-up testing site was an effort by Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to streamline its approach to COVID-19 screenings requested by local healthcare providers and to improve access for vulnerable populations. The site was at 1941 Haskell Ave. in the Lawrence Douglas County Fire Medical Training Center.

We still encourage anyone currently experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19 to contact his or her primary care physician. Always call first before showing up at a provider.

Anyone without a primary care provider can call the Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health Coronavirus hotline, 785-856-4343. We have nurses online to provide initial screening and if needed, directions on how to get tested.

LDCPH thanks Lawrence Douglas County Fire Medical and the City of Lawrence for their partnership and assistance with offering the Haskell testing site.
