Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department Director Dan Partridge, of Lawrence, is one of 32 health officials nationally to be selected to participate in a six-month Behavioral Health Training and Technical Assistance program for state, tribal and local health officials. Partridge is the only participant from Kansas.

Through the program, health officials will learn evidence-based and innovative strategies to address their local communities’ most pressing mental health and addictions needs. They also will be trained in Mental Health First Aid, which will teach them how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.

The National Council for Behavioral Health provides the program with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
