LAWRENCE – Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health beginning Monday, April 27, will reopen limited clinic services to treat patients experiencing sexually transmitted diseases and to give immunizations to pregnant mothers and children up to age 2.
All visits will be available by appointment only scheduled by the clinic’s front desk staff.
For STD patients, only the client being seen by the nurse is to come to the appointment. We also ask all patients to wear a mask or cloth face covering to the visit and to practice social distancing, including waiting in their vehicle or outside the building before notification to come in for the appointment. If a patient is feeling symptomatic, including having a fever, they should not come to the appointment.
“We want to offer as many services as we can to the community during this time, both in a way that is safe under the stay-home order and public health directives and with being able to still redirect some of our staff to help with our COVID-19 response,” said Director of Clinic Services Linda Craig.
Immunization appointments will be open for pregnant mothers to receive a Tdap vaccine and children younger than age 2 to receive immunizations. Appointments are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. only on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and clients should call the front desk, 785-843-0271 to make an appointment.
STD appointments for symptomatic patients can be scheduled as same-day appointments on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays by calling the front desk.
