Health insurance.jpg

If you don’t have health insurance through a job, Medicare or Medicaid, you can get insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace.
Starting Nov. 1, you can enroll, renew or change plans in the Health Insurance Marketplace. The open enrollment period to receive insurance coverage in 2016 ends Jan. 31.
If you have questions about the Health Insurance Marketplace, you can schedule an appointment with a trained staff member at Heartland Community Health Center, 346 Maine St., or Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department, 200 Maine St. You can schedule an appointment by:
• Visiting coverks.org.
• Calling Heartland Community Health Center — 785-841-7297.
• Calling Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department — 785-843-3060.
There is no cost to receive assistance, which is available to anyone.
You should allow about 90 minutes for an appointment and you will need to bring identification and Social Security numbers for all family members needing health insurance coverage. Persons also need to have access to an email account. It also helps to bring tax documents or income information.
For more information about the Health Insurance Marketplace:
• Visit HealthCare.gov.
• Call the Health Insurance Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596.
