Child Care Licensing Orientation for New Home Providers

Douglas County residents who want to operate a child care home need to attend a Child Care Licensing Orientation Class. The class is a requirement before an application can be submitted. During the class, participants will learn about the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s regulations, including paperwork requirements and the inspection process.

Classes typically are from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month. Cost is $40 plus applicable County Fee of $100 (total $140), and fees are due by noon the Friday before the class. To register for an orientation class, submit the form below.



Accepted forms of payment include:
— Check payable to the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department. Check can be dropped off or mailed to 200 Maine St., Suite B, Lawrence, KS 66044. Checks must be received by noon the Friday before the orientation class.
— Credit or debit card/electronic check via online. After submitting this form, select the "Pay Fees Online" button on the next page. Enter your first and last name in the "patient" section. Select Child Care Licensing from the dropdown menu. Enter your total amount due as a single payment.
— Credit or debit card via phone. Call 785-843-3060 with payment information.
