Septic Repair Grant Program
Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health (LDCPH) offers support to rural homeowners through funding from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. This program provides financial assistance to low-income households experiencing a failing septic system. Eligible homeowners can receive funding to cover the cost of necessary septic system repairs or full system replacement. By addressing urgent public health and environmental risks posed by failing systems, the program helps residents maintain safe living conditions and protects local water quality. Priority is given to households demonstrating financial hardship and immediate need, and support is available through a streamlined application and verification process.
How it works:
- Funds are available to replace existing septic systems for households which meet income restrictions
- Homeowners submit application materials to LDCPH for support
- LDCPH and homeowners identify the changes to be made and an approved budget through a licensed installer
- LDCPH provides funding to cover the costs of the septic installation
